A GAY HERITAGE VIDEO *** BACKGROUND *** This video portrays historical facts relating to the romantic relationships that existed between men in ancient Greece and lays claim to the accomplishments of men who loved other men in ancient societies, as the rightful heritage of Gays today. Philosophers and historians of ancient Greece wrote and recorded the ancient Greeks’ prevailing view that love between men was a gift from the Immortal Gods and that the strength of male sexual bonds improve bravery in the military. The quote by Plato used in the video is only one of many such written recorded facts of history. The Greek historian and biographer, Plutarch, wrote: “It is not only the most warlike peoples, the Boeotians, Spartans, and Cretans, who are the most susceptible to this kind of love but also the greatest heroes of old: Meleager, Achilles, Aristomenes, Cimon, and Epaminondas”. *** CREDITS *** “The Parthenon” is a short computer animation that visually reunites the Parthenon and its sculptural decorations, separated since the early 1800s. The film used combinations of time-of-flight laser scanning, structured light scanning, photometric stereo, inverse global illumination, photogrammetric modeling, image-based rendering, BRDF measurement, and Monte-Carlo global illumination in order to create the twenty-some shots used in the film. “The Parthenon” was directed by Paul E.
